The fierce resurgence of Covid-19 cases and related business shutdowns are dashing hopes of a quick recovery. “We cannot defy gravity and continue with the business model we had before the pandemic”

The fierce resurgence of Covid-19 cases and related business shutdowns are dashing hopes of a quick recovery, prompting businesses from airlines to restaurant chains to again shift their

strategies and staffing or ramp up previous plans to do so. They are turning furloughs into permanent layoffs, de-emphasizing their core businesses and downsizing production indefinitely.

Oops, I thought there was online before COVIRUS...

The only one that wants to make us think the pandemic is over, is the moron at the White House COVIDiotInChief TrumpDeathToll143K

CDC said the racial protests n riots did NOT increase virus count but recommends banning of church gatherings, restaurant dining, sports events, beaches, etc. Revealing their true agenda?

Then I guess we have no need of the WSJ then...

Too many Americans are embracing this “be scared of everything” mentality when in reality we should just learn to live with this shit and if you want to wear a mask and look like an idiot, fine. The world just thinks we’re a bunch of wimps now.

“Covid-19 fatalities plunge.”

Well, maybe US businesses and the WSJ should have thought about the practicality of opening so quickly without getting covid under control. They seem to be liking how the US President is not handling this. So, this is what you get.

WSJ should be ashamed for promoting the hysteria and not providing much-needed fact-based analysis and perspective related to comparable risks.

can't always get what we want.

A new word has entered the lexicon of the department of fear and pandemia. “Fierce.”

Thanks...when do [experts] figure it will decline? Say...first week of November? Idiots.

What defines a case again?

My god people! A 99.8% recovery rate ..wake the F up

Oh sure===let the businesses go bankrupt resulting in a huge loss of employment for Americans (while politicians keep getting their paychecks)

covid-19 time to help small businesses share it coronavirus

There is no quick answer. The key to the economy, re-opening safely, unemployment, etc., is conquering this virus!

According to the administration all under 50 should report to work, colleges, schools as death rate is manageable!

A 'quick recovery' was never a real option. Months of lock down wasted.

LMAO we're all screwed

I am so pissed that I’ve stayed home for 4 mos, wear masks wherever I go and minimize my interaction in the hope that we could get out of this quickly, but here we are...

Dude there's already recovery, so pick a better story ... like US recovers job in record fashion ... you're welcome

This is nonsense

'fierce resurgence' is a lie; corporate press-which owns the democrats--is just disappointed there was positive economic news so they're pushing fake case numbers and demanding shutdowns to strangle the economy further. The corporate press is the enemy of the people

there's no federal response. the steps required by the federal government to get and keep numbers down were not taken. all of this was preventable. remember that on November 3rd.

Dow futures won’t be great.

Fake News

....Because the President, his entire administration and the GOP are unfit to govern.

You can thank trump

But New York did it right!😂

positive lab tests are not sickness

Why not focus on cleaning up the data set, report accurately, parse & affinitize the collected data properly, then closely follow actual deaths vs cases. That would go a long way towards putting the story into context.

Hope US don't have to go through second and third wave. Hope they get smarter until it's too late.

I have been a WSJ subscriber for a very long time. The COVID alarmism is puzzling. Lots of evidence that the latest wave is far less severe than feared. Death rate still very low. Don’t understand where they’re coming from with this.

We can all thank the president and his flunkies for extending the pandemic for years. He is killing people, jobs and the economy with his depravity and incompetence.

journalismisdead propaganda

Don’t lose hope, the experts are lying to us. They even tell us on their website but of course you won’t see this in the fake “news”

Stop spreading fear.

The new business model...government owns it all, and is the sole source of commerce, we are all equally poor and own nothing but the government provides ALL we “need”, just costs you your freedom...welcome to Bernies Revolution comrade

Honestly, fuck CPC 🇨🇳 . Their leaders need to be judged for covering up the early stages of the pandemic, we must not forget.

The WSJ has been infiltrated by the hard left. Never thought I would see the day.

What were those hopes based on in the first place?

America shouldn't have shut down. It was a fatal error.

So, we had 2 months of massive recovery and then, all of a sudden, a few blue governors shut things down again... And you're just going to write stories like this acting like 'this could be bad...'

What about the over-reporting of “positive” COVID-19 cases? What happened to 15 days to flatten the curve? We can’t trust the “experts”. We really need to re-open our country and the economy!!!

Is it dashing only the hope? It is dashing the whole economy!!!

if the business model obliterates the customers...oh yeah

People that own businesses should fire all their liberal Democrat employees. They are a cancer to society and a liability to your business. Starve them out of existence!

realDonaldTrump is treating Covid-19 like it is Putin. RollOver GoodBoy

fearmongering

Obviously lockdowns aren't the answer. Try something else.
