We've set up his contribution as a dollar amount rather than a percentage so that he doesn't accidentally max out his account early andSome 401 plans offer the ability to make after-tax contributions above and beyond the $19,500 limit, which is especially useful if the plan also offers in-plan Roth conversions on those dollars. My husband's plan doesn't offer those features, but if it did, we'd be all over it.
