After reeling from layoffs as the coronavirus crisis began in March, some tech jobs have become hot as businesses adapted to the pandemic and the sudden shift to remote work.
HackerRank, where employers can conduct online interviews with potential tech recruits, also points to an upbeat trend for new college grads: a surge in demand for tech interns. Demand for full-stack engineers, who manage the full-range of an IT network and infrastructure, slipped 5%.Demand for front-end engineers, who are focused on sections of a network that users interact with directly, tumbled more 34%.
Demand for developers with specific skills, such as JavaScript and managing Microsoft's .NET developer framework, has "skyrocketed," Ravisankar said.The rapid rise of data analytics and AI has led to stronger demand for data scientists. The coronavirus crisis has reinforced this trend. "This probably seems surprising," Ravisankar said. But then again, it does make sense given the jolting changes in tech and the broader economy, he said.
