The Pelicans guard and L.A. product will donate his salary for the rest of the season to Black-owned businesses and organizations in three cities.

Orlando forward Jonathan Isaac declined to kneel for the national anthem before an NBA game because of religious beliefs, not a disagreement with BLM.

Jrue would not have hesitated to skip the rest of the season if that’s what was right for his family. In September 2016 he took a leave of absence from the Pelicans after Lauren was diagnosed with a brain tumor while pregnant with JT. “I felt like kind of keeping that in and keeping that private has been something that not only me and my family but this culture that we built, that’s kind of what was acceptable,” Jrue said. “Not being seen as a victim because this happens probably more than people think.”That changed this summer. In June, Lauren wrote a piece for the Players Tribune in which she detailed many small instances of racism against her husband that she had witnessed — and one big one.

His Black friends and teammates weren’t surprised to hear his story. It seemed almost normal to them. The thing Lauren remembered most about that incident was the dread on her sister-in-law’s face — dread from the knowledge that her brother could be killed. She’s thought about the experience, too, in the context of their daughter, JT, and the son they will soon have.

And I am spending 50 thousand in cash this week on a new F150 and I will guarantee you that the person I buy it from will not be black.

Hopefully the ones destroyed in the violent riots.

Now this is wonderful. I don't understand giving money to BLM when they are preaching burn places down. What a fabulous gift, I hope more sports figures will get involved with this.

With great pride, I thank you and many others that are giving to help our community. Please surround yourself with good solid people and invest in projects wisely and carefully. Thanks Mr Holiday.

This is the way to affect real and lasting change. Not attacking people, rioting, looting or setting fires like most are doing in our communities. Well done, Jrue. Well done.

Thank you, Jrue_Holiday11 . Way to lead by example, my friend.

Smarter than burning them down
