TikTok threatens to sue the Trump administration over the executive order barring US firms from doing business with its parent

Two crossed lines that form an 'X'. It indicates a way to close an interaction, or dismiss a notification.TikTok has threatened to sue the Trump administration over Thursday's executive order that bans US citizens and companies from doing business with its Chinese parent company ByteDance. The executive order prohibits US individuals and companies from making "any transactions" with TikTok's parent company ByteDance.

This week reports emerged that the Trump administration was forcing TikTok to sell off its US business or face a ban. Microsoft has publicly announced its pursuing acquisition talks for TikTok's US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand business. "We are shocked by the recent Executive Order, which was issued without any due process. For nearly a year, we have sought to engage with the US government in good faith to provide a constructive solution to the concerns that have been expressed. What we encountered instead was that the Administration paid no attention to facts, dictated terms of an agreement without going through standard legal processes, and tried to insert itself into negotiations between private businesses.
