Tropical Storm Isaias downed wires and uprooted trees, like this one in New York City, leaving millions of customers without power in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Wednesday. The governors of Connecticut and New York have each declared a state of emergency and are calling for investigations into state utility companies' response.

Each governor has also declared a state of emergency in order to expedite support for local governments. Connecticut's applies statewide, while New York's specifically includes 11 counties and three others that border them.on Wednesday afternoon that more than 703,000 New Yorkers remained without power in the aftermath of Isaias, which caused a peak of more than 920,000 power outages statewide.

Utilities have deployed 7,000 workers to help respond to the damage and restore service, according to the governor's office. Cuomo said that"due to the apparent lack of adequate planning by utility companies," he has directed the Department of Public Service to launch an investigation into the responses by Verizon, PSEG Long Island, Con Edison, Central Hudson Gas & Electric, Orange and Rockland Utilities and New York State Electric & Gas to"determine the causes of their failures."

What You mean there were power outages d/t a tropical storm Waste of time and energy to INVESTIGATE utility companies to see who is responsible. I know who is responsible: MOTHER NATURE.

Been out since Tuesday 3PM. Trucks worked on several lines and trees in area but left 1 wire down in middle of road. Haven't seen a truck in 3 days. This is a 1 hour fix tops. They estimate they will have our power fixed by Tuesday 6PM, 1 full week later.

ISP’s must be “investigated” as well. Tho this also occurred back when Sandy hit and literally nothing happened. Con Ed got a billion dollars with help from the state to help fund underground power lines like Manhattan’s but Con Ed deemed it too expensive AFTER getting the $ 😡😡

Can u ask “ where’s the $$$$?”

The biggest problem was the lack of communication and the ability for public to accurately and timely report outages. Hey Utility Companies, don’t leave people in the dark when it comes to sharing information and don’t rely on social media outlets as your method of communication

Just got power back last night and I live off of a very busy main road, lines were laying down off the poles on the side of the road and it still took them 4 days.

I can save them the time & effort They spent their profits on paying dividends & or buying back stock, f noton infrastructure maintenance

A day? It’s been many days. I have some people in CT I haven’t heard from yet, but the last one that is on social media got power back a few hours ago.

Accountability!

Come to California, the fucking power company turns your power off for 5 to 7 days when the wind starts to blow, and the dipshit governor won’t do anything about it because they give to his campaign.

There Is A Reason To Put Cables Below Ground Instead Of Above Ground. 😉

Okay. Count down 3-2-1 anytime you have to investigate the utility company.

How did y'all not figure this out after Sandy when people went without power for weeks? NYGovCuomo GovNedLamont

One day without power and investigations? PGE4Me imagine if you had this level of scrutiny, thousands may still be alive.

Problem with Utility companies being privately owned
