According to research firm IDC, cloud services are among the top areas of priority for Malaysian enterprises when it comes to spending on technology to future-proof their business.

AVM Cloud chief technology officer Kenny Lim noted that cloud services are becoming more important for local enterprises to ensure business continuity.

Lim added that it was also important for companies to have an overall digital strategy to maximise the benefits of cloud technology, including making use of multi-cloud or hybrid cloud to reduce cost and manage operations. “So the cloud really depends on the digital strategy that you put in place to help you, ” said Lim during a firechat session with Mydin IT director Malik Murad Ali titled “The Cloud behind E-Commerce for the Masses” at the #cXo2020 Live Virtual Conference. Notably, the digital trend will boost services providers like AVM. And while established players like Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure dominate the market, local providers are gaining attention.

Mydin had invested in its e-commerce platform and virtual desktop infrastructure a few years ago and this allowed the company to continue serving its customers and enable its employees to work from home.
