10 online fitness apps and clubs that will keep you fit without going to the gym

The COVID-19 pandemic shuttered gyms, fitness clubs, and classes around the globe. Fitness companies were forced to innovate — many produced fitness apps, or moved fitness clubs online.

The list includes F45, group activity app Magic Mountain, VR studio FitXR, Fiit, which runs live remote classes, and six others.During COVID-19, the fitness industry went virtual practically overnight. Gyms shut, personal trainers couldn't meet their clients, and at-home workouts became the new norm. Zoom fitness clubs sprang up, and trainers began hosting sessions online. Even as gyms reopen, many will prefer to remain at home, away from crowds.

The app features classes such High Intensity Interval Training , yoga, kettle bell circuits, Low Intensity Interval Training, breath work, and pilates. Over the past two years, 2.5 million classes have been taken on the app, and the average user completes 3.3 classes per week. Cofounder Ian McCaig says it is aiming for "global domination" as it launches in new territories, and it plans to enter physical gyms via chain The Gym Group.
