PONTIAN: The Primary Industries and Commodities Ministry is urging unemployed Malaysians to consider working in the palm oil industry.

Its deputy minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng said this would help reduce the unemployment rate in Malaysia, which has spiked due to Covid-19.

“More than a million people are expected to lose their jobs by the end of this year, and as a proactive measure, the government conducted meetings with oil palm industry players and requested that they hire locals, especially youth.
