Tampa cybersecurity startup Reliaquest raises $300 million by simplifying cybersecurity, even as the CEO says that it doesn't believe in the idea of 'company culture'

Brian Murphy is the CEO and founder of ReliaQuest, a cybersecurity company that automates processes with machine learning.Reliaquest, a Tampa cybersecurity startup, announced Tuesday a $300 million funding round – 10 times the $30 million it had previously raised to date.

Reliaquest has offices in Tampa, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City, where it hires from big universities and the military. The new round is led by the global investment firm KKR – investors in cybersecurity firms Darktrace and Cylance, as well as Lyft – with participation from Ten Eleven Ventures and ReliaQuest's CEO, Brian Murphy.

The startup has offices in Tampa, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City – cities near big universities and military bases where tech talent is in plentiful supply, despite the distance from Silicon Valey. What Reliaquest's flagship product does is give IT departments a view across all the various other cybersecurity tools that they're using to keep their networks safe and secure, applying artificial intelligence to help detect intrusions and spot incoming threats.
