When COVID-19 hit hard in early March 2020, like so many other organizations, Seattle Goodwill had to adapt, pivoting overnight to a completely different organizational and outreach model Sponsored by TMobileBusiness

When most of us see a Goodwill store, we think about getting a good deal on some new clothes or a lightly-used coffee maker. But that just scratches the organization’s surface. The work Goodwill does for the least fortunate among us is what really counts. For critically underserved groups, job training, basic education, and support services like childcare and transportation to job interviews is a lifeline they can’t get anywhere else.

But this was just a first step. Seattle Goodwill still needed hundreds of tablets they didn't have. That's where T-Mobile for Business stepped in. Through a partner, T-Mobile was able to secure 150 discounted tablets for the non-profit. Each client was assigned a case manager and employment specialist who could walk them through using the tablets and filling out forms for jobs applications, unemployment claims, and accessing social services. For additional training, they leveraged virtual classrooms online.Even actions fueled by the best of intentions don't always go off without a hitch or two. One of the early challenges Seattle Goodwill faced was not understanding the depth of the digital divide their clients were facing.
