The modern American workplace is a communist dictatorship — and we must admit it if we're going to fix it

David Goldstein is a senior fellow at Civic Ventures and co-host of the Pitchfork Economics podcast. of Pitchfork Economics, political philosopher Elizabeth Anderson explains that modern American firms are actually communist dictatorships. Before we can fix the workplace, we need to open our eyes and see what it for what it actually is.

Americans are waking up to the fact that there is something intuitively wrong with the modern American workplace. Not just the hours or the pay or the commute, but the institution itself. And it is something that we have all been blinded to for the past 150 years. But the labor market is different from all other markets: "If I sell my apples that I own to you, I walk away as free as I was before my apples were sold. But if I sell my labor to you … I cannot walk away from that transaction. What I've really contracted into is a relationship of subordination to my employer."

Within the context of the workplace, what neoliberal policymakers refer to as "deregulation" is merely a shift of regulatory power from the elected leaders of our public government to the unelected dictators of the firm.

this is the dumbest shit you've posted in a while which is a pretty high bar but there we go

when you cant say whats actually the problem because your whole business model is essentially propaganda to support the problem.

Who the fuck is David Goldstein?

lol

Are you high?

Ahshhshhshhhhahahahahabahhabah no man

this reads like capitalism to me?

It's just capitalism.

when you don’t know what words mean

So can just anyone submit articles to businessinsider?

a *what* dictatorship

BadEconTakes

lol imagine being dumb enough to believe this, type it out and then post it on the internet for all to see

how can someone be this fucking stupid

I promise you communism doesn't mean what you think it does

This is the dumbest shit.

It’s just a dictatorship, unless you think the workers own the means of production

Hey this is a stupid fucking thing to say and you should delete it and fire whoever put it up

You don't know what communism is, do you.

You clowned yourselves

So it would seem the only time corporate media will criticize capitalism is when they mislabel it communism bizarre

Jfc. Whoever wrote this is a pathetic charlatan.

What?!

This article literally describes Capitalism and then calls it Communism. Unbelievable. Un-fucking-believable. 🤦‍♂️

So whats the alternative/solution? Hmm?
