UK property prices reached a record high in August, helped by pent-up demand. But it is an unsteady crutch for the country’s pandemic-afflicted economy. aimeedonnellan says:

British house prices leapt to hit an all-time high in August, mortgage lender Nationwide said on Sept. 2.Nationwide said the average price of a home hit 224,123 pounds in August, up from just under 170,000 pounds a decade ago.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority said on Sept. 4 it was opening enforcement cases against housebuilders Barratt Developments, Persimmon, Taylor Wimpey and Countryside Properties, saying they had broken consumer protection law in relation to leasehold homes.
