Sen. Chuck Schumer called for an investigation into Postmaster General Louis DeJoy on Sunday, following a Washington Post report that said DeJoy reimbursed employees for political donations. The Post said DeJoy, at his former business in North Carolina, pressured employees into donating to Republican candidates, and would later reimburse them through bonuses. That sort of arrangement is illegal.
DeJoy got the job to lead the U.S. Postal Service thanks largely to his status as a major Republican fundraiser."These are very serious allegations that must be investigated immediately, independent of the Trump Justice Department," Schumer, a New York Democrat, tweeted Sunday."North Carolina's Attorney General-an elected official who is independent of Donald Trump-is the right person to start this investigation.
