House Democrats say they're investigating Postmaster General Louis DeJoy over allegations that he asked employees to donate to certain political candidates and then reimbursed them through bonuses.

's reporting. It appears to describe what is known as a straw donor scheme, in which a person donates in another's name to get around individual contribution limits. It's not illegal forDuring an Aug. 24 hearing in the House, DeJoy denied paying back several executives for contributing to Trump's campaign.

"That's an outrageous claim, sir, and I resent it," he said when asked by Rep. Jim Cooper, a Democrat from Tennessee."The answer is no.""I'm fully aware of legal campaign contributions, and I resent the assertion, sir. What are you accusing me of?" DeJoy responded.White House chief of staff Mark Meadows"Never underestimate Congress' ability to ratchet up an investigation 60 days out from a presidential election," he said.

Maloney's committee is already investigating DeJoy's tenure at the Postal Service and has subpoenaed his communications about operations. In a statement Tuesday, committee member Rep. Gerald Connolly, D-Va., said DeJoy's response to a document request for communications with the Trump campaign has been"inadequate."earlier this month that he did not consider"the communications I had with certain personal friends of mine regarding the president's statements about the Postal Service to be with the 'Trump campaign.

"Although you confirmed that you communicated with individuals associated with the Trump campaign, you failed to identify the individuals you spoke with—or when these conversations occurred," Connolly said in a response to DeJoy."Claiming a personal relationship does not absolve you of your responsibility to produce these documents to the committee."NPR congressional correspondent Claudia Grisales contributed to this report.

I really don't like this guy

Just more wasteful election year antics by the Dems.

Enough. House Democrats should have neither their authority nor their legitimacy respected.

gut these fish... Send a message to repressive and fascist leaders by charging Trump with CrimesAgainstHumanity

What?

So another one of trump's guys are gonna go to jail? surprise TrumpCrimeSyndicate

Postmaster General is in deep doo doo 💩. Where does one start. Purposely slowing mail delivery, having employees donating to realDonaldTrump and then reimbursing them. Lies to Congress. That’s so easy for intelligence to track. TrumpMeltdown

Seems like investigating is all they ever do. Maybe try governing for a change.

And hopefully NCPublicSafety 🤞🏼

i've come to the conclusion that 'innocent until proven guilty' is no longer in the democrat lexicon.

Good!

gop realDonaldTrump WhiteHouse TuckerCarlson senategop housegop gop should operate like democrat party and help and protect their own party people such as Louis Dejoy. Democrats vehemently protect even their most corrupt people and spread falsehoods to dilute the charges.

More desperate, deranged, attempted election interference from PBS News.

How come a high percentage of Trump hires are under investigation or indicted for felonies? Are these the 'Best People' candidate Trump promised America? How can one run a re-election campaign on Law&Order given such an abysmal track record? Make it make sense.

USPS contractor dumping mail Up for audit: processes & responsibilities of parties throughout the supplier chain 2006 pension mandate: USPS is govt. org. BUT must create a fund to pay for post-retirement health care, 75 years into the future, $72 billion

They have about 10 days to remove DeJoy, otherwise there isn't enough time to properly fix the USPS in time to deliver the mailm as they did for 250 years prior to Trump's appointed USPS arsonist. Blatant voter supression that can only be held fully accountable with a Biden win.

WTF? So illegal

Uncle Uber?

This is just a distraction once again.

Needs to be fired and indicted if the story is accurate.

If he’s that stupid, we have serious issues. My bet is that this is another hoax

Political appointees like DeJoy should NOT be in charge of vital public services like the U.S. postal service! WeNeedSecureMail

And the postal employees union endorsed a political candidate which obviously is a conflict of interest as they are a federal agency and handling a large number of ballots.

Criminals and conmen surround themselves with....criminals and conmen.

What does that mean “investigating” Charge him - you have enough evidence. They grill his ass! Democrats are so damn timid—- NOTHING gets done!

This circus needs to end. DeJoy needs to end. Trump needs to end. When’s the grand finale?

OMG! This is absolutely.....fcked up

Sad that it's only House Dems doing the right thing.

Lock him up

The Democrats are literally attempting to throw anything against the wall to see if it'll stick - there will be at least a weekly scheduled 'scandal' until the election, that'll be completely debunked a few days later

swamp ain’t drained 🤢
