"The latest bill from the speaker is no more serious than any of their political stunts going back months," McConnell said, and added, "If they continue to refuse to get serious, then American families will continue to hurt." His remarks come as pressure mounts on lawmakers to strike a last-minute deal before Congress adjourns until after the election next week. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met for a fourth day of negotiations.. It included restoring the $600 federal unemployment benefit until January, another round of $1,200 direct payments to taxpayers, as well as aid to states and small businesses.

Senate Republicans were staunchly opposed to another $3.4 trillion plan that House Democrats approved in May. They need just do the 1200 the 600 is to much

Just participated in uclaanderson economic forecast conference. The gist: With this second stimulus AND no sustained civil unrest in a month AND no second (third?) COVID surges, AND no regional disasters (fires, hurricanes)... Economy might get back to normal in late 2022.

But racism is hard to overcome in South Carolina. It runs deep.

Democrats want to give everyone another $1,200. stimulus and $600 added to unemployment, but McConnell won't go for it.

This was a bipartisan plan that has republican support in the house.

Of course the millionaire doesn't have many worries and doesn't care about the american people.

But let's get the SCOTUS nominee rushed thru and out of the way. Priorities...right?
