Geneva in Switzerland is introducing a minimum wage of $25 an hour, the highest in the world

Denis Balibouse/ReutersThis means full-time workers will earn at least 45,264 Swiss francs a year, or $49,386.

Just over 58% of voters in the canton — an administrative region that includes the city of Geneva — voted for that minimum wage,They were asked to answer yes or no to the question: "Do you accept the popular initiative '23 francs is a minimum'?" Geneva's minimum wage is more than triple the US federal minimum wage of $7.25 and more than double the UK minimum wage of £8.72, or $11.28, for people 25 and over.

Just to put into perspective: Geneva, Switzerland: The Swiss city has the tenth highest cost of living in the world in 2020, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit's 2020 Worldwide Cost of Living Survey.

Everything relative, its number 2 on the list for highest cost of-living!

Cost of living insanely high as well with taxes, no America should not take notes

America follow what Switzerland is doing.

hblodget But all stuffs in Switzerland are super expensive, so if u live in Switzerland, u will find actually CHF purchasing power r super low in this country, that's why you need higher minimum wage. Not a big deal.

How many people currently in Geneva make less than that already? Being one of the most expensive places in the world, this could actually impact nobody and be nothing more than optics.

I certainly hope that doesn't stop lower skilled workers from not getting a job Oh who am I kidding OF COURSE IT WILL increasing minimum wage has always made it where less skilled people cant get a job bc they will be getting paid to much to be a know nothing

And their tax rates?

A wise popular vote, although, keep in mind, Geneva is the most expensive city in the world.

What’s the cost of living in Switzerland vs. the US? If I remember correctly, it’s ~80% to 90% higher.

How a CEO gets millions extra don't make chicken and burgers go up haha scumbagnation
