The top 3 cities people wanted to move to this summer

, the Seattle-based brokerage, found that 28.7% of its users showed interest in moving to another metro area in July and August.

"And their big, coastal city salaries allow them to outbid local homebuyers in bidding wars, which is starting to drive up home prices in those areas. The trend is likely to continue as remote work becomes permanent for more companies," she continued. "I've seen more and more people moving to Austin from California, New York, Seattle and Chicago, especially since the pandemic began," local Austin Redfin agent, April Miller, was quoted saying in the report. She said some of the biggest draws to the area are the affordable homes, lower taxes, and new jobs.

But things look very different in 2020, as working from home has meant it's now a possibility for some to move to a bigger space in a less densely populated area for a more affordable price. Additionally, a single-family home is inherently safer for social distancing purposes as it cuts down on your contact with others.
