Opinion | The US lacks the will-power needed to fully defeat the novel coronavirus. By docdanmd

reported cases of coronavirus spread among students and faculty, with some students requiring quarantine and school closure. This is not just a dilemma for the schools, but a nightmare for the entire country.

Take masks for example. In addition to recommendations from the WHO and the CDC on masking, several recent studies have made the science of the effectiveness of masking clear. Recently, Dr. Deborah Birx reportedly wished the US had a "more stringent lockdown in place at the beginning of the pandemic like Italy". Frankly, while there is no appetite for such draconian measures in the US, Dr. Birx should have been adamant about such lockdowns in the beginning. It is, however, appreciated that members of the coronavirus task force are beginning to speak up candidly and unmuzzled.America is a social country with fun past times, and we love our sports.

docdanmd Sweden is a HUGE success—There is no “new normal”. Lockdowns KILL. All you’re doing is prolonging the inevitable. Enough is enough.

docdanmd You have to let it work its way out.

docdanmd Why are all the morons wanting Trump to gives us the cure. Science is the only one to give it to us. They can not. so they blame the President. Scientists quit your BS and get to it or are they waiting for Greta Thunberg to give it to them.

docdanmd Again with the'defeat the virus' rhetoric. Neither the gop or the dnc can defeat it. Just use it to increase their influence as they see fit. Flu is still around 100 years later and still kills 10s of thousands of Americans yearly. Covid will be around a 100 years from now.

docdanmd Just look then at Europe, whose cases are setting to explode, even Germanys. This in spite of massive lock-downs. Its incorrect to view the US as stand-alone; compared with the Western world, the US is somewhere in the middle...

docdanmd Will power? Perhaps we're not stupid enough to starve alone in our houses?

docdanmd We have enough sense to do cost/benefit & not rely on moronic people like you who went to med school and offer draconian misguided advice costing trillions yet not knowing one iota of economics and the opportunity cost. We could have cured cancer with the trillions wasted

docdanmd Now do France, Spain and the UK
