Up to one third of jobs in Australia’s lobster industry could soon be lost as a slump in prices claws away at profits.

Beijing delivered a crippling blow to the sector when it imposed an 80 per cent tariff on Australian exports in May 2020.

Southern rock lobsters are being sold at about one third of the price they fetched before the ban and many fisherman cannot break even selling the product at $25.00 per kilogram.
