Restaurant and Catering Industry Australia CEO Wes Lambert says Brisbane’s three-day lockdown will “destroy” business and consumer confidence ahead of the Easter long weekend and school holidays.

“We expect that the restaurant, cafe and catering industry will lose about $50 million in revenue which means that they will have to chuck out about $15 million in produce because they would have already had that on hand for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday trading,” he said. “Ultimately this is going to destroy business and consumer confidence going into the Easter long weekend and school holidays.

“Many people are now telling us that they’re going to be cancelling their trips to Queensland because they’re worried about getting stuck here and also many states have closed their borders to Queensland in some way”. Mr Lambert told Sky News it “beggars belief” towns and cities thousands of kilometres away from south-east Queensland and Brisbane are required to wear masks indoors.

No need of such harsh lockdown.

Money over people

AnnastaciaMP doesn't care. She only cares about making a spectacle of herself, and getting her head on tv.

A 3 day lockdown is a little pointless. Needs to be 7 days to be effective.

Be happy only 3 days. Here in BC, Canada they just announced a 3 week restriction on in person dining. The industry here has been hit hard several times over the last year.
