The EU Parliament this month could endorse a plan to make ecocide a crime prosecuted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague, a venue reserved for the very worst crimes against humanity.Parliamentary initiatives to recognize ecocide as an international crime have popped up in Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, the Netherlands and Sweden. French President Emmanuel Macron has said that heads of government who deliberately fail to protect the environment should be held accountable at the ICC.
