Only 17 days since the ban on non-essential leisure travel was lifted, the number of possible destinations has shrunk.

"If it's closed, close it. But you know the stress involved for people now...""If you're going to open up travel, you need to commit yourself to doing it, rather than doing a knee-jerk reaction allowing it one month and then changing it a few weeks later."

"With high levels of vaccinations in the UK being matched by other countries, we should see the UK government adding destinations to 'green' as soon as possible - not turning its back on a traffic light model which we were led to believe was based firmly on scientific data." "While our European fleet is gearing up for summer as European governments open up travel for their citizens, the UK government is making it impossible for airlines to plan while consumers are left grounded in UK."

Andrew Flintham, managing director for TUI UK, said the announcement was"another step back for our industry" and that the moving of Portugal to the amber list would do"untold damage to customer confidence".

Absolutely disgraceful. Caught out lie after lie, making money from NHS contracts for his sister's company (which he has a 25% stake in). He must have some incredible dirt on Boris to still be Health Secretary. Funny fact: Algarve had around 15 cases per day max until we started receiving tourists. Last 2 days have around 35 per day. Madness. Only place safer than this is mars. Enjoy your holidays. And if they stayed on the green list the guardian would be sporting how experts criticise it. The government are wrong no matter what, the press make sure of it.
