Men and women aged over 55 contributed over a third of the total spend on clothing in the UK in 2019

In and among the long-limbed twentysomething models showing off this summer’s various collections, you might find a handful of grey-haired faces. This is progress. As is the fact that the collections in question are likely to include dresses with sleeves, skirts that end mid-calf and well-cut jeans with the sort of waistlines that a decade ago might have been deemed ‘mum-like’, but which are now ten times more fashionable than the skinny styles of the past.
