Finance Minister Simon Birmingham has lashed out at Labor heavyweight Paul Keating’s pro-China critique of the Coalition’s Indo-Pacific defence decisions, labelling his remarks “frankly dangerous”.

Speaking to Sky News Australia on Friday, the senior Liberal urged the Labor Party to be “very clear and unequivocal” in rejecting Mr Keating’s comments.

"But no, we're not happy to be in the region, we're still trying to find our security from Asia rather than in Asia," Mr Keating said. “This concept that we should take, whatever it is that China bowls up essentially and shrug our shoulders … is by and large what Paul Keating suggested,” he said. Mr Birmingham emphasised Australia’s strategic position of leadership in the Indo-Pacific amid escalating tensions between China and the United states.

“He's certainly out of line with what our government's policy is, and we certainly don't share that view,” he told the Today Show.

As dangerous as getting three mega powers offside? Birmo ⬇️

birmo? That muppet? BAHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Keating has more power and dynamism in his little finger than that weak little man.

The ScottMorrisonMP government’s petulant megaphone diplomacy is amateurish and frankly dangerous. This government is clearly well out of its depth, and well and truly past its used by date.

Who do you believe? The Ranting Liar Or Keating's phonomena : Superannuation Float AUD Dividend Imputation Tariff removal Exports to Asia Mabo APEC Sex Discrimination Act Employment Training Reforms End AUS Colonial sickness Laid foundation of 29 yrs uninterrupted GDP growth

Hahahaha What with a Stale Lettuce

Gerry Harvey needs to stop importing goods from China. Importing these goods is directly funding the most dangerous terrorist regime on earth. Why are Australian businesses allowed to fund Communist China?

As Keating asked: Is it in Australia's strategic interest, to buy USA subs today, to minimize China's 2nd strike nuclear capacity against USA in 20 yrs; by trying to contain China's subs to the continental shelf, and out of the Mariana trench. auspol ausdef .politicsabc

The best of Simon Birmingham is out front of his office. AusPol
