The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Micheal Tidi, confirmed the incident to Channels Television via a telephone conversation on Sunday. He said the fire which started at about 2 pm on Sunday, was triggered by a mentally-challenged woman who was clearing refuse at the market premises. According to the Chairman, the fire spread beyond the dry refuse and then onto other shops in the market after the woman began to cook and walked away briefly.
