Your columnist spent a decade plugging numbers into models to predict how economies would perform in the future. We all have our regrets in life. Economic forecasting is of some value in calm times when economies are humming along smoothly. It is of less value in a time of pandemic, when the world lives under the constant threat of new virus variants which risk putting everything and every one back to square one.
