More than 6 million square feet of office space was being built in the D-FW area at the end of 2021.After suffering huge declines in office space demand early in the pandemic, the Dallas-Fort Worth area was one of the country’s top leasing markets in the final months of 2021.

The more than 1 million square feet of North Texas office leasing in the fourth quarter followed steep declines in office activity in 2020 and early in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “While the office market is still feeling the effects of the pandemic, key indicators such as positive net absorption and upticks in office-using job employment are telling of a sector that is headed toward recovery,” Transwestern senior research director Elizabeth Norton said in the new report.
