Authorities are piecing together how a man was shot to death outside a north Harris County business with an assault rifle.

Ed Gonzalez says it happened in the 15000 block of Tallshadows Dr. near W Hardy Toll Rd. That's where arriving officers found Donyell Whitfield, 39, dead in his car, who appeared to have been shot with an assault rifle.

The shooter, later identified as Reginald Meadows, 39, was detained at the scene and taken into custody. Preliminary information from the Sheriff is there was a confrontation between Meadows and the unidentified victim, which escalated and resulted in the 39-year-old shooting him with an assault rifle.
