. In the Johannesburg CBD, parts of the Joe Slovo drive have been flooded just opposite Ellis Park Stadium forcing motorists to face on-coming traffic on Sivewright Avenue.
“It’s raining in most parts of the City of Johannesburg. Most roads are wet and slippery. We urge all motorists out there to extend following distance, drive with caution, and also try and avoid crossing areas which might be flooded … flooded roads or flooded bridges,” says Robert Mulaudzi, Johannesburg Emergency Services Spokesperson.
The Tshwane Emergency Services says it will remain on high alert following a thundershower warning by the South African Weather service. It’s been raining heavily in different parts of Gauteng since this afternoon. “During weather patterns like this we remain on high alert. We would also like to caution our community members that our 107 emergency number is still out of service. We continue to encourage them to continue to report emergencies on 012 310 6300,” says Charles Mabasa, Tshwane EMS spokesperson.
