Some traders will have to relocate or take a break so that two of Melbourne’s biggest festivals can set up at the Queen Victoria market | carawaters MartaPascual3

said about 40 traders running stalls in E Shed were offered to relocate temporarily or take rent-free leave for the duration of the Melbourne Fashion Festival.Most chosen to take leave, with a small number accepting to trade in an alternative location.“With 1000 people expected to attend the opening night gala alone, these events are also a great way to attract potential new customers to the market,” management said in a statement.

Yolanda Finch, acting chief executive of the PayPal Melbourne Fashion Festival, said market traders were consulted in the lead-up to the event. Creative director Pat Nourse said he wanted to bring Melbourne’s food festival to the city’s home of food.
