However, Verstappen was able to hold off Leclerc’s fightback to claim his first points of the 2022 season. It was a weekend to forget for Lewis Hamilton, who could only manage a tenth-placed finish having started the race in 16th. Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz came third, edging Red Bull’s Sergio Perez to the podium. Meanwhile, Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, George Russell, came fifth.
