Business Business Headlines News

I launched a book publishing company that did nearly $1 million in gross sales last year. Here's how I used my previous work experience to start a business.

Angela Engel spent nearly two decades in publishing before launching her own company.Engel shared her advice for taking previous work experience and using it to start a business.

Engel and her team work with authors to turn book ideas into reality by focusing on workshopping, copyediting, design, and retail distribution. Additionally, the Collective Book Studio team creates original stories for production. I climbed the publishing industry ranks and worked on major accounts like Target and Costco to land books in stores, before I decided to take a step back from publishing.

Then we meet with the author to ensure we're the best publishing fit for their needs. Once we decide to move forward, the Collective Book Studio puts together a bespoke team of experts, each with their own specialties and interests, to best support the author. We collaborate on copy, edit, proofreading, layout, and design.
