The CGA also backs the government’s underlying objectives for the development of Ontario’s iGaming model: to establish a competitive iGaming market that fosters an exciting gaming experience while protecting consumers, keeping Ontarians safe and generating revenue for the public good.

Additionally, as we turn the corner on COVID closures and grapple with the economic recovery, it is imperative that Ontario’s land-based casino operators have the proper framework, tools and level playing field to benefit from online gaming that will enable them to diversify their entertainment options with a view to delivering a seamless gaming experience to their customers.Article content

The CGA believes the introduction of a regulated iGaming marketplace allows the provincial government to reset its priorities for the gaming industry — online, land-based and charitable gaming — and encourage competition, while incentivizing capital investment, job creation and economic growth. Today we have emerging companies such as theScore Bet, a Toronto-based sportsbook provider currently licensed in four U.S. states; Rivalry, a Toronto-based e-sports and sport betting platform; and NorthStar Gaming, the newly created gaming company born out of Torstar Corporation. These companies recognize that Ontario is a great place to do business and have made significant investments in this province to grow their businesses in Ontario.
