The price of oil has been rising steadily the last several months. While that should spell good news for Alberta, it has instead shone a spotlight on a new problem. There aren't enough workers.

Need to switch to electric vehicles stop burning oil and gas save our climate

Encourage some Ukrainians to come to Canada. We would be happy to help them.

Where are all the oileys that spend their time here and on FB bitching about their lost jobs? Oh maybe job has changed and requires more than Grade 8 now. Maybe they are realizing that they were deadwood, and won't be called back? What accounts for this oddity?

Maybe it’s just because these workers have been burned by the industry and world economics one too many times.

That's good not enough workers! No more full time jobs should be offered to workers in oil industry in Alberta! Offer temporary jobs so people don't expect to build lives in oil patch! We must move to Green Energy. Canadians need to stop complaining about oil prices & drive less.

there are enough workers. they just schedule all of the shut downs at the same time

pay rates have been stagnant for 20 years, oil companies will lay off a huge percentage of their workforce when the price drops again. They spent a decade chasing away workers, now they are shocked when they don't have any...

Meanwhile the unemployment rate in Alberta is still one of the highest in the country. Many Albertans called us all lazy for not wanting to work in the oil patch. Why aren't they getting off the dole and taking these jobs?

In 1998 there were too many workers, in 2003 there weren't enough workers, in 2009 there were too many workers, in 2013 there weren't enough workers, in 2015 there were too many workers, in 2022 there aren't enough workers. How many times can one person get laid off?
