“NSBI didn’t really have the capacity or the resources to market it and put the energy into moving the land, they were just like the stewards of the land. We bought it so we could actively sell so that we could actively recruit businesses as part of the overall revamp and rebranding of the park. There may still be some undeveloped lots owned by other developers Young said, but the last of the 40 acres that opened up is gone.

The efforts were boosted by the early purchase of a 4.6 hectare lot by Robinson Cannabis. The production facility was soon purchased by an Ontario producer, which closed it earlier this year. Atlantic Poultry has since bought the plant to turn it into a new chick hatchery. As the business base of the town expands, there is a need for more people to work, which then drives residential growth and a need for more businesses again, Young said.
