In a departure from the convention of leaving grants to ministers, guidelines for almost $1 billion in industry grants required Scott Morrison’s final approval | Exclusive | CroweDM

Former prime minister Scott Morrison had final say over $828 million in grants in the industry portfolio in the year before the federal election at the same time he held secret authority over five ministries.

Industry Minister Ed Husic, who is considering the new report from his department, questioned why the announcements were made so close to election day and why the prime minister would control the grants. “The prime minister will be the final decision maker. The prime minister decides which applications are successful.”secret portfolio authorisations

The review of the industry scheme does not contradict his assertion because the guidelines for the $828 million said the final decision would be taken by the prime minister.
