The woman’s former employer told authorities that the theft had apparently gone on for years.

Kara Orella, 45, of Vacaville was booked into the Marin County Jail on allegations of embezzlement, forgery and related offenses. She remained in custody Friday with bail set at the amount of the alleged theft.

Orella’s criminal history includes charges of grand theft, burglary and check fraud in Sonoma County. In 2009, she received a three-year suspended sentence in two cases and was ordered to pay $143,967.73 in restitution, according to court records. Her probation period ended in 2014.
