The senior public servant who appointed John Barilaro to a plum New York trade job has stood down as chief executive of Investment NSW as the scandal continues to plague the state government.
The decision to separate the roles was made at the same time as the Head review was released by Premier Dominic Perrottet last Tuesday, however the move was not publicly revealed. A statement, prepared when the Head review was delivered, said Brown wanted to focus on the department “and her role leading a cluster of close to 4000 staff”. The statement was not released.
“During this time, Lisa Braid will continue as Acting Secretary for the Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade,” the spokesperson said.Investment NSW has come under intense scrutiny as the agency responsible for the controversial trade roles, including the Americas position which Barilaro secured.
