I would like to know what route I should take in regards to investing for my retirement. I’m currently 40 with no retirement [funding] due to life happening. I get different points of view in regards to the best route to take; investment in property seems to be regarded much more lucrative than a normal annuity.

The difference is that owning the property yourself means you are in control of every decision and aspect of the investment such as the size, geographical location, and type of property .
