‘Completely unacceptable’: Anthony Albanese leaves door open to royal commission into cosmetic surgery industry | BillieEder

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says revelations of botched cosmetic surgery procedures are “shocking”.“We are not considering [a royal commission] at this point, but clearly I think that Australians will be shocked at some revelations,” the prime minister said at a press conference in Sydney on Thursday.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency is the national regulator responsible for accrediting health practitioners. It is a statutory body set up by state and federal health departments. It is not funded by government but received some pandemic-related Commonwealth grants.the organisation was pursuing individual doctors over “vexatious” complaints while allowing multimillionaire cosmetic surgeons to operate with impunity.
