A 15-year-old grade nine learner from Arthur Mfebe High School has been laid to rest at Chris Hani East after losing his life allegedly at the hands of his fellow schoolmates at Cofimvaba in the Eastern Cape.

The Department of Education spokesperson Malibongwe Mtima says one of their initiatives in curbing such incidents is to take young men who are in prison to educate learners in schools about the repercussions of engaging in criminal activities. He added: “ We are hosting children who are convicted prisoners, who serve their time now are rehabilitated to come and talk to them so that they can understand that crime does not pay, once people get criminal record it will be impossible for them to get an appointment in the near future,”
