“Sunnys is MIMI Chinese's funkier, younger cousin downtown,' says chef David Schwartz

Eating at Sunnys is like taking a culinary tour of several regions in China, including Sichuan, Shaanxi, Guangdong and Hong Kong. There’s a heavy focus on charcoal barbecue, evident in dishes like the cabbage skewers, dry pot shrimp and lamb ribs.

Here, chrysanthemum stems and spinach are jumbled up with sesame oil and seeds. The dish gets its brightness from white rice vinegar. $11 These cabbage skewers catch a char on the charcoal barbecue before being finished with a cumin dry rub. $12
