iPhone overtakes Android to claim majority of US smartphone market

For the first time ever, there are more iPhones in use in the US than any other type of smartphone. Citing data from analytics firm Counterpoint Research, thereports the iPhone overtook the entire Android ecosystem in June to claim 50 percent of US market share. In doing so, Apple achieved its highest-ever share of the American smartphone market.

In the early days of the iPhone, iOS never had anywhere near 50 percent market share. At that time, companies like Blackberry, Nokia and Motorola dominated the smartphone space. By 2010, two years after its debut, Android overtook iOS to claim the larger install base. Ever since then, Google’s mobile operating system has been the dominant force in the global smartphone market, claiming more than 70 percent market share as of 2022, according toGoogle probably has nothing to worry about.

Bout time. More unified and more secure by comparison.

Wow no sht its the US

For most consumers apple offers a better value. Their entry laptops are affordable and the connectivity between pc and phone is entirely unmatched vs windows / android. iPhones get updates for 6 years, all models. The initial price tag may be higher but they smoke with longevity

How much rotten apple paid you

Yep, people who live paycheck-to-paycheck buy expensive shoes and iPhones for status, while they can't put food on the table ... Aren't they so brave?

There is no one more stubborn than an android user.

Home base advantage

Surprising considering iPhone has 3-4 models a year and android has 1000s of phones and 100s of brands

C’mon now.

The word you failed to find there was reclaim.

And just like that, the android rooting community let out thousands of screams 🥲

Android's 70% global share doesn't mean 70% of smartphone profits. That's what really matters, and that's where Apple slays Google.

Ick . seriously How

That is obvious. US has the only market where Apple Card is a credit card compare to Google Wallet. People that are in Apple they get into a land system to get into their ecosystem.

Other parts of the World matter😅

That's what you get from banning most Android brands..

I mean, world wide, it's a completely different story.

Yeah that is bull.....

I don't beleive it. How much was paid for this?

That's depressing. Apple is managing to hold back the entire web by forcing Safari/webKit onto users, and subsequently, on developers. Chromium is light years ahead of Safari/WebKit, but that matters little if your core target market is forced to use the App store. antitrust

Entirely expected. For past few years, Apple was busy optimising the iPhone. Even their SoC is 2-3 gen ahead. Meanwhile Samsung (the only true competitor in the 🇺🇸 due to *cough duopoly cough*) been massively slaking. So with lack of Android options, Apple will go unchallenged.
