It is expanding its teams of medical geneticists and genetic counselors, Alderson added.
At the same time, Genome Medical is delaying a"third phase" of growth involving the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to translate its wealth of data into better insights for labs, health care systems and payers about patient care. "We've done a lot to lay the foundation for that," she said,"but ultimately, to really glean the promise requires further investment to get to scale."
Davies was a co-founder and CEO of GeneMatters and was chief customer officer at Genome Medical after the acquisition.
