LISTEN: Recreational cannabis was legalized in California in 2016, in hopes that it would give communities new jobs. For more, KCBS' Eric Thomas spoke with Dominic Corva, from the Institute for Interdisciplinary Marijuana Research at humboldtcalpoly.

California legalized recreational cannabis in 2016, bringing on a multi-million dollar commercial pot market, and the hope that some struggling communities would have new jobs and tax revenue.

Instead, what's developed is a"wave of corruption" from government officials all the way down to business owners. For more on this, KCBS Radio news anchor Eric Thomas spoke with Dominic Corva, a professor of Sociology and co-director of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Marijuana Research at Cal Poly Humboldt.
