American Airlines Group Inc. recently disclosed it suffered a data breach but said the risk to potentially affected individuals remains minimal.
"While we have no evidence that any personal information has been misused, data security is of the utmost importance and we offered customers and team members precautionary support," Koos said."We are also currently implementing additional technical safeguards to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future."
Koos said a phishing campaign led to the unauthorized access of a limited number of employee email inboxes in the company's Microsoft 365 environment. Phishing emails usually ask a user to do things like click an attachment, enable macros in a Word document, update a password or respond to a social media connection request.
