Asian and Native American female lawyers get the least amount of big law business, study finds

Asian women in law are chosen least often by corporations looking to hire counsel, a new study by the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession found. And experts say the vast majority of diversity spending goes to hiring white women.

It’s a fact that makes it notoriously hard for Asians, particularly women, to advance in the legal profession, she said. Though Asian Americans in law enter the private sector at the highest rates, they advance at the lowest. “White men are faring far better than every other group that we disaggregate,” she said. “[Asian] men are doing a little bit better than [Asian] women. Like with white women, they’re not doing extraordinarily well. But the difference between what Asian American women or Native American women are getting was so striking because they’re getting so little.”

We all know what ethnicities generally make the best attorneys depending on the specialty.

Do you think Asian’s only representing 6.5% of the population and Natives only representing 0.8% of the population may have something to do with the numbers? MSNBC race baiting again. Asian’s are the highest earning demographic in the US. This is a non-story.

You do realize non-Hispanic whites dominate the law profession? The numbers of white lawyers are more than 85% of all lawyers. Take all other ethnicities together in lawyers and they number little more than 14%. People of color just don’t enter the law profession in large numbers

Newsworthy because...?

One time my public defender wasn't asian or native american so I received an equity mistrial.

Discrimination by default.

I’m guessing some of their accents won’t be effective in court. Still great doctors and scientist though.
