Officers received a report of the stabbing at 8:26 p.m. in the 2000 block of Market Street. Both a Safeway and Whole Foods are located in this block that runs between Church and Dolores streets .
Paramedics arrived on scene first, followed by police. The man was treated for possible stab wounds and transported to a local hospital for life-threatening injuries, police said. "Despite the lifesaving efforts of medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased in the hospital," the department said.Anyone with information on the incident can call the police department's 24-hour-tip line at 575-4444, or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
