This has been an exciting few months as we make it through the last week of the campaign journey for the 2022 municipal elections in Greater Sudbury.
What I have clearly gathered from citizens is that there needs to be a fundamental and profound change in the spending habits of the city, how we treat each other and how we recruit, retain and conduct business. I could have had a campaign office to create photo-ops, as some of my opponents have. However, after looking at the costs of setting up an office and what the potential utilization would be, the cost benefit analysis showed that it would be a poor decision from a return-on-investment perspective.
Each “Meet and Greet” was a wonderful experience, getting to meet so many people and to hear their thoughts, whether they were positive or negative, about the City of Greater Sudbury. We need more than just a name change on the door of the mayor’s office, we need a new practical approach to spending tax dollars that assures maximum value is received.
Wow! What’s the business plan?
... no. The role of government is to provide services.
Ridiculous position. The city's job is not to make a profit, it is to provide public services. She definitely won't get my vote.
Service our community with accountability and I'll be happy with that
It's not a business. It's a community
No. Go honk a horn.
Uh no. It should be run like a city. Also we live in a time where everybody is sick of corporate greed and corrupt businesses; it's probably not the best time to push a pro business agenda.
No, you can’t run a government like a business. It’s not possible and it’s a horrible idea.
No. Nope. This is a morally repugnant, trash position to take. And also functionally incorrect. The city has a monopoly on its services and is obliged to offer those that are essential. And I can't opt out or go to their competitor if I'm unhappy - I'm obligated to pay for them.
It should be a business due to the fact that so many levels of infrastructure have to be bid on and considerable growth in the area.
This shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the role governments play in society.
you know she's a convoy supporter right? she supported the people that wanted to destroy Ottawa
Running a city for profit is the stupidest thing ive ever heard. Also not novel 😆. Balanced keeps everyone happy and services running. If you want to run a business start a business go work for a business. dont run for public office. This idea isnt New..its stupid.
It already is.. cut back and charge more and paying the CEO (*mayor*) a crazy amount of money.
Brilliant!!
